Spider Manifolds

The Krebs Spider Manifold System is uniquely designed to uniformly distribute the feed and collect the overflow and underflow products from hydrocyclones as required for the application. The system includes a feed distributor, overflow collection launder, underflow collection launder and steel support structure all assembled vertically with the overflow launder flange mounted to the top of the feed distributor. Typically designed for hydrocyclones 6" [150mm] and smaller, the Spider Manifold System is an economical solution ideal for a variety of separation needs.

Typically the hydrocyclones are inclined and mounted radially around the central feed distributor for uniform slurry distribution. Slurry outlet nozzles from the feed distributor incorporate a well-rounded nozzle entry configuration to minimize slurry turbulence. A pressure gauge with protective diaphragm assembly mounted to the feed distributor is typical supply. The feed distributor is constructed with a minimum steel plate thickness of ¼" and incorporates a minimum of ¼" vulcanized elastomer lining. For corrosive service applications the elastomer lined surfaces are spark tested to ensure complete bonding.

The manifold design permits convenient removal of each hydrocyclone without disturbing other hydrocyclones or disassembling the manifold system. All connecting pipefittings have standard Victaulic grooves and hose clamp connections. Blanked connections are provided for any unused hydrocyclone feed outlet pipes. When required, FRP covers are utilized to reduce misting.

An individual isolating valve can be provided for each hydrocyclone as an optional feature. We carefully evaluate the type of valve, depending on the application, to ensure it is acceptable for use.

The overflow and underflow launders are constructed of adequately reinforced steel plate. If an elastomer lining is required it will be a minimum of ¼" thick and it will be vulcanized to the steel. The overflow launder is flange mounted to the top of the feed header and the support frame is welded to the feed header wall. The underflow launder is positioned directly under the feed distributor and it is usually designed with a sloping wall to match the inclined angle of the hydrocyclones.

Assembly support designs are designed per UBC guidelines and are analyzed by a qualified structural engineer for operating and seismic loads.

Each system is assigned an engineering manifold number and a file is set up for the fabrication drawings, materials, certifications and, if required, specific welder qualifications.

All design details of the spider manifold system are confirmed by performing a trial assembly prior to rubber lining. Typically the spider systems are sent fully assembled. If field assembly is required bolts will be provided. Absolutely no site welding is required. Detailed assembly drawings and bolts lists are provided for customer support. Each manifold is quality checked prior to shipping to ensure all components meet Krebs established standards.
